What's inside: The Way Home - Wild Forest Body Balm

Ezgi,

How do you know what you know? How do you know so much about herbs?

There is nothing we can do. There is no cure for that. It's impossible. It’s incurable. Why do you even work so much on her? A care home. There are care homes. Let her stay there until she dies.

I was angry every time I heard that word “care home”. Angry and confused. The only thought in my head was that these people do not know what love is. They have never been loved so much unconditionally. So they can just burn it all easily.

I can not.

Because I was loved. So deeply that if you see a trace of humanity in me, it's because of my mother and father.

So we did not give up.

“You must infuse some Kantaron into olive oil, but make sure the flowers are fresh, my dear. You can not find them in this season. So-and-so has some. I will bring you some. Let her drink a spoonful every day. That’s gonna help heal that internal wound. I promise you it will. I have seen it with my own eyes.”

Mother Nature was the only hope in our home, and humans who just want to heal one another. The empaths. It just hurts them when others are in pain. So the knowledge must be shared.

The true story began with my mother’s diagnosis of lymphoma. Chemotherapy and radiotherapy left her body paralysed.

How long can someone breathe for 19 years without moving a muscle of her own? They said it's impossible. But you know what.

Mother Nature said, "Come closer to me, my dear."

Streets are already filled with Aktars (Herb stores). Although my father's favourite place was the weekly Pazar = the fresh fruit and vegetable markets.

My one was the Aktar. Scanning the shelves, smelling the herbs who cures what… Understanding them one by one, making my own potions and lotions as food or skincare. She was lying in bed. You know what happens: “bed sores”. She did not have any!

How?

Well, Ezgi understood that when an organ reaches homeostasis, it functions. It functions well, and the skin prevents wounds.

And who understands Mother Nature?

The human body.

Massaging her with oils that I made, moving her body in such rhythm with music filling the room as medicine, she did not have bedsores.

How?

Mother Nature was the hope in our home.

Every time we heard It is impossible. This is the end.

She is bleeding internally; there is nothing we can do.

We immediately knew. Well, let me go to an aktar, the herb store.

I am not gonna let my mother feel any pain.

Watch me.

"Ezgi, you should be a little more feminine. You have too much masculine energy."

What would love do?

Love would not give up.

I am not gonna let her suffer.

If masculine energy means “I love; I am a human in love”. “I do not let those I love suffer”. “I would do anything.”

If one of us suffers, we suffer together.

Challenge accepted.

Call me masculine.

What an honour.

Love taught me to fight.

Not the love on paper, by the way.

The unconditional one. Motherly love, divine love, taught me how to love.

When one suffers, we suffer together.

So, one of our customers, a young gentleman, said Ezgi you helped with my facial eczema. I am finally off my eczema creams. My facial skin is improving so much; help me with my body.

And Wild Forest Body Balm - The Way Home was born.

What's inside?

The aktar…

I went to an aktar in my mind…

I spoke to the root of the Liquorice. He said there is pigmentation now. All that dryness caused pigmentation. And what helps with pigmentation?

LIQUORICE ROOT
: when repeated irritation has left the skin looking uneven, liquorice root is known for its ability to even pigmentation.

MARSHMALLOW ROOT is rich in mucilage and traditionally valued for its extraordinary softening and soothing qualities. Beautiful for skin that feels tight, dry and easily irritated. That’s why it's in the Winter Solstice Balm too.

YARROW has centuries of traditional use for wounds. It is astringent, which means it helps close the vulnerable skin.

GREEN TEA: did you know that deep green colour means antioxidants? It means I am so resilient to the environment, including the sun, that I learned to stay strong and green under harsh conditions. Extremely dry skin needs so much support to knit itself back together. I will transfer that information with the sweep of a balm.

RED CLOVER improves lymphatic flow. You know what happens: if there is so much imbalance on the skin, there is always a body that is struggling underneath. Lymphatic flow is life. It must move, and red clover makes it move.

NETTLE: a nutritive tonic like my father’s pazar, the fresh fruit and vegetable market. This plant is so nutritious that there is a saying in herbalism: if you dont know what to do, use Nettles.

ROSEMARY: who is going to drive the car? We are going somewhere with Mother Nature; somebody must drive. Rosemary improves blood flow so beautifully that all these plants can travel; they need to travel to work, and your own blood is your medicine. Beautiful blood circulation means healing.

WITCH HAZEL: she is the toner; the antibacterial of nature. Not a medical disinfectant that kills life left and right. It protects the vulnerable skin, tones it, shrinks the openings.

CALENDULA: she opens when the sun rises and closes as it settles. Wound healing. She has always been used for wound healing. Constant scratching of the dry, delicate, irritated skin is vulnerable and in need of repair, and Calendula knows what to do.

COMFREY is so green. Traditionally known as knitbone. It contains allantoin naturally and has a long history of use for supporting rough and compromised skin.

And PARSLEY, in every dish growing up, is so rich in antioxidants that it completes this extraordinary botanical infusion.

Eleven plants from the same Aktar I once found myself looking for the cure for my mother I love. One by one, scanning the shelves, smelling the herbs, being so grateful for the humans who taught me how to use them, what to do with them.

Ezgi, how do you know what you know? How do you know so much about herbs?

My question to you...
