Look at her before-and-after pictures...
Her face looks as though the sun has risen from within it.
Four months ago, she sent me a photograph of her skin before beginning the Flow Ritual.
This week, she sent me another.
I placed the two beside each other.
I could not believe what I was seeing.
There was a brightness across her cheeks, a beautiful evenness of colour and softness. The redness and darkness around her eyes looked a lot calmer, clearer, more open and peaceful.
Her pores appeared less visible. Areas of pigmentation had softened, some even disappeared. The skin around her chin, which had looked dry, depleted and tightly drawn, now looked rested, hydrated and plump.
Even the vertical line between her eyebrows looked less deeply defined.
But it was not one softened line that moved me.
It was her whole face.
She looked younger, like life had returned to her skin.
She looked healthy.
She told me:
“I look forward to my ritual every morning and evening. I turn it into a meditation. I speak loving words to my skin while I do it.”
And I could see those words on her face.
I could see them in the softness around her eyes. I could see them in the light across her cheeks. I could see them in the peacefulness of her expression.
Every morning and evening, she placed her hands upon her skin with love, true self-love.
She was not asking a cream to manufacture beauty for her.
She understood that her skin is living.
She understood that it is an organ with its own wisdom, rhythms and language.
And as she followed the Flow Ritual, supporting her skin’s sebum, hydration and microbiome, then adding the Sun Elixir as its seasonal layer, she was giving her body what it needed, at the time it needed it.
She was saying:
I am not here to fight you.
I am not here to erase you.
I am here to listen.
I am here to nourish you.
I am here to help you return to balance.
Perhaps that knowing did half the work.
Her mind, body and spirit were all present in the ritual. Her hands were applying the plants, but her words were carrying love.
The earth provided the nourishment.
Her body knew what to do with it.
And slowly, quietly, without force, her body created and continues to create beauty.
This is the difference between imposing beauty upon the body and allowing beauty to rise from health.
When a living organ is supported in its natural functions, beauty is no longer something painted over it or forced into it.
Beauty becomes the visible expression of balance.
Smaller-looking pores, more even pigmentation and softer lines are not the whole story. They are simply signs on the surface.
The deeper story is that her skin now looks more supported, more alive and more able to meet the world.
As the seasons change, it will not be left defenceless. It will carry the memory of being nourished. It will continue learning, adapting and becoming more resilient.
That is what healthy living systems do.
They respond.
They adapt.
They return to balance.
What moved me most was that she did not arrive here through rejection.
She did not punish her skin for ageing. She did not injure it into appearing younger. She did not choose one line and declare war upon it.
Because once beauty begins with rejection, there will always be something else to reject.
One line becomes another line. One pore becomes another pore.
And slowly, in trying to erase every sign of ourselves, we begin to erase ourselves.
But she chose another path.
She met her face with tenderness.
She cared for herself consistently. She spoke to her skin with love. She turned an ordinary morning and evening routine into a moment of connection with her own body.
Now, when she looks into the mirror, she does not only see brighter skin.
She sees the result of having loved herself every day for four months.
Perhaps, little by little, she will feel less need to cover her face. Perhaps she will leave the house with nothing between her skin and the world.
Imagine the confidence of that.
To be seen.
To belong completely to your own face.
To know that you did not become beautiful by rejecting yourself, but by returning to yourself.
This is where self-love begins: small, private moments when nobody is watching.
In the way you touch your face.
In the words you speak to your body.
In the patience you offer yourself.
In the decision to nourish yourself without first declaring that something is wrong with you.
When we pour into ourselves first, we do not have less love for others.
We become full.
And when a person becomes full of love, that love naturally spills into everything around them: their family, their work, their community, the animals, the trees and the living earth.
A nourished person nourishes.
A peaceful person carries peace.
A person who no longer rejects themselves no longer needs to reject the world.
That is my wish for every person, whatever their age, gender or identity.
That we learn to love ourselves so fiercely, so completely that love becomes our natural state.
Because peace in the world does not begin somewhere far away.
It begins within the body.
It begins before the mirror.
It begins beneath your own hands.
I am not here to erase you.
I am here to love you.
I am here to support you.
And from that place, the body creates beauty.
With all my love,
Ezgi
