A Letter to Parents — The Child With Eczema

A few days ago, I received a photo of a young child with eczema. Their tiny neck were red, inflamed, and tired. It stopped me for a moment. Why would such a young child have eczema?

It’s strange to see, but perhaps not surprising. We live in a world that teaches us to scrub, sterilise, and strip everything clean, our homes, our food, even our skin. But our skin was never meant to be sterile. It’s a living, breathing garden.

When a child comes into this world, their skin is still learning. Their microbiome, the invisible ecosystem of beneficial bacteria that protects and nourishes the skin, is still forming. Their sebum, the skin’s own sacred oil, is still finding its rhythm. Their immune system is still learning the language of balance.

When we wash them with soaps, foams, and antibacterial cleansers, we unintentionally silence that language. We strip away their protective oils, their good bacteria, their sense of safety. The skin feels lost, exposed, and the immune system begins to panic; that’s often how eczema begins.

This is why I felt called to write to you today. Because our Flow Set was never meant to be “skincare”, it is a homecoming. And it is a gentle, natural path of healing for children, too.

The Raw Organic Jojoba Cleanser is so close to the skin’s own sebum that it doesn’t confuse or overwhelm. It cleanses without stripping, teaching the skin to self-regulate, to trust again, to find its flow.

The Rose Water Mist soothes not just the skin, but the nervous system. The scent of rose has been shown to lower stress and calm the body’s response to inflammation. Children are sensitive souls; they absorb the energy of their environment. When the mind rests, the skin can rest too.

And the Botanical Face Elixir, with Calendula, Lavender, Nettle, Rose and Rosemary,  these are nature’s child-healers. Calendula restores tissue and helps wounds close. Lavender calm heat and irritation. Nettle strengthens and feeds the microbiome. Rosemary improves blood circulation. Rose opens the heart and softens the body’s stress response.

Together, they don’t just treat the skin, they teach it. They remind it how to heal, how to protect, how to stay resilient.

Children who use the Flow Set now, even if they have no visible skin issues, build a stronger microbiome, a balanced immune system, and a lifelong relationship with their body’s own wisdom. And for those with eczema or sensitivity, it helps their skin remember peace again.

When you wash your child’s face with oil, when you mist them with rose, when you apply Face Elixir, you are whispering to their body, “You are safe. You can trust yourself. You are whole.”

That, to me, is real healing. Not fighting the body, but returning it to love.

If your child is experiencing eczema or any other sensitivity right now

They are inflamed, itchy, or dry. The most important thing you can do is bring calm back to both body and mind. Eczema is not only a skin condition; it’s a conversation between the skin, the immune system, and the nervous system. When one is overwhelmed, the others follow.

Here’s what I would do:

1. Stop using foaming cleansers, soaps, or creams with preservatives.
Even the “natural” ones can strip the skin’s natural oils or disrupt its microbiome. Your child’s skin needs protection, not purification.

2. Begin with the simplest touch — Raw Organic Jojoba.
Use it as both a cleanser and a moisturiser. Warm a few drops between your palms and gently press onto damp skin after bathing, all over their body.
It mirrors the body’s own sebum, helping the skin rebuild its barrier and regain balance without confusion or stress.

3. Mist with Rose Water Mist.
Rose is a natural anti-inflammatory and cooling ally. It soothes redness and brings comfort. The scent also calms the nervous system, helping the whole body rest — and rest is essential for healing.

4. Feed and balance with the Botanical Face Elixir (for face and neck).
This is food for the delicate skin of the face and neck. The slow infusion of Calendula, Lavender, Nettle, Rose, and Rosemary restores barrier function, reduces inflammation, and nurtures the microbiome, creating a soft, loving home for beneficial bacteria to flourish. It helps calm irritation, even out redness, and teach the skin how to self-regulate again.

5. Protect and restore the body with Forest Balm.
After bathing and moisturising with Jojoba, finish with a soft veil of Forest Balm on areas that feel dry, irritated, or inflamed.

This balm is made from the forest’s most comforting healers: Chickweed, Plantain, Lemon Balm, Rose, and Valerian Root, a blend that soothes the skin and the nervous system beneath it.

  • Chickweed cools fiery, itchy skin and relieves discomfort from eczema or irritation.

  • Plantain draws out impurities and supports wound healing by regenerating new tissue.

  • Lemon Balm is both antiviral and calming — it quiets the skin’s inflammatory response while soothing the heart and nerves.

  • Rose restores the skin’s harmony, strengthening fragile capillaries and reducing redness.

  • Valerian Root — a gentle sedative — eases tension held in the body, helping the skin and child to relax deeply.

Together, these herbs weave a cooling, protective cocoon over the skin, never blocking, always breathing, allowing healing to unfold naturally.
Forest Balm doesn’t force the skin to behave; it reminds it how to rest, to self-repair, to come home to balance.

6. Keep their world simple.
Let them play barefoot, touch the earth, feel the soil, and breathe fresh air.
The natural microbes in the environment are medicine for their immune system and skin microbiome. Keep meals whole and unprocessed; the gut and skin are in constant conversation.

7. Hold them.
Eczema often flares when children feel anxious, overstimulated, or unseen.
Your calm is medicine. Your presence regulates theirs.
Let your touch be slow, your tone gentle, your love steady.
Healing isn’t just topical; it’s emotional.

Over time, as their skin begins to trust again, you’ll see less irritation, fewer flare-ups, and a deeper resilience. The skin doesn’t forget how to heal; it only needs safety to begin again.

Because our Flow Set or any other product that you see on our website was never meant to be skincare, it is a return to trust.

With all my love,
Ezgi
