Patience is the one ingredient we can not hand you in a bottle. You have to apply it yourself.
Hold on, who was impatient first?
You must have caught it somewhere. Mom? Dad?
Ah.
But wait,
They must have caught it from someone too.
And on it goes, impatience travelling all the way back to the caveman.
It's the survival gene. Expect the worst. Act fast. Stay alive. For most of our time on Earth, that's what it meant to be human.
But here's what healing from Multiple Sclerosis with meditation and slowly returning to homeostasis taught me.
We are on an evolutionary journey. You and I, we have to evolve.
You are not in a cave. I am not in a cave. The world is at your fingertips, right here, right there from your sofa. And yet you act like the tiger about to eat you. Fast!
There's nothing left to outrun. Breathe. Slow down. This is home.
You have arrived.
Your speed is killing you.
Since 2017, from the moment I sat down to meditate to heal my MS, I have been teaching myself one thing: “patience”.
First I thought I was teaching myself how to meditate.
Nope.
What is your record in meditation?
Him?
Mine is 10.
Imagine sitting 10 hours eyes closed, legs in meditation position.
I thought I could meditate everything, all of it out in one go.
Fast!
Well, it turns out homeostasis, balance, wholeness doesn’t arrive with force.
In fact, it is the act of letting your body, life work for you.
So, “You must get out of the way!”
How can you do that?
Give your body, your skin what it needs and then live your life.
Away from the mirror. Away from constant checking. Away from constant searching.
By teaching yourself “Patience”.
When emotions start running the show, you recognise you don't obey immediately.
Place your attention to your heart.
And take a deep breath in through your heart
And exhale from your heart
In
and Out
In
and Out
In
and out
of your heart
You regulate. You return. You return to yourself. You have arrived. Already home inside your own body.
And then patience is effortless. You will not interrupt your skin, your body, your life returning to homeostasis, balance, wholeness.
Just like Alice did. Just like I did. Just like Fiona did.
Fiona began using the flow ritual in February and has since seen a significant change in her facial acne and inflammation. Even when flare-ups persisted, so did she. As we always emphasise at Earth To You, patience is the one ingredient we can’t provide for you in a bottle. You have to apply it yourself. She was patient.
In Fiona’s case, where her skin was particularly sensitive and prone to reactivity, we wanted to apply the ritual and reach homeostasis step-by-step.
Beginning with the Raw Jojoba Oil (to help regulate her sebum level), Fiona would massage the oil into her face morning and night, before gently cleansing it with our wet Bamboo Cloth. As always recommended, she gently wiped the skin (softly press and lift) to remove enough excess until only a thin layer of oil residue remained. Never leaving the face squeaky clean.
Fiona would then apply the Rose Facial Mist to feed her microbiome, and instead of following this with our Botanical Face Elixir, she applied another layer of raw jojoba oil on top.
A morning application prepared Fiona’s skin to meet the day in a balanced state, while at nighttime, it helped the skin to return to homeostasis after whatever the day and the elements threw at her.
And then the pictures came (See them on the website).

She has not finished yet. She taught her skin how to produce sebum. Now she is feeding it with our elixirs, building a healthy microbiome. Slowly, patiently returning to Homeostasis, balance, wholeness.
We are honoured to be a part of Fiona's journey back to wholeness.
Patience begins with a handful of herbs. Herbs that begin their journey in jars of elixir that line the windowsill. Mingling with flower extracts in the morning and evening light, they glow with composure - still and distilled - waiting quietly for the day they become something more than just marbled flora contained in their honey-coloured liquid. The day when the hard work comes, and they are finally instilled with a bigger sense of purpose.
Like those herbs, your skincare journey starts with an introduction; an application; a fusion; product mingling with skin.
Like those herbs, your skincare journey starts out as something small; an action; a simple ritual, morning and night.
And like those herbs, in order to grow and reach its end goal, your skincare journey needs to be immersed in patience.
Results don’t come overnight; your healing skin arrives with time. Be patient on that windowsill, without paying too much attention to your own reflection. Greet each day as it comes, and one morning you too will glow.
