The Anatomy of Rosacea

Knowledge is power. Let's expand our awareness. Let's heal. Come with me.

Don't have time to read?

Facial redness, bumps, and broken visible blood vessels are the main symptoms of rosacea.

And you follow the advice. You start avoiding spicy foods, hot beverages, alcohol, sun exposure, strong winds and certain foods like aged cheese, tomatoes, and citrus fruits because they all cause blood vessels to dilate (expand), which is normally a very healthy immune response.

Dilation in the blood vessels means increased blood flow, which means good circulation of oxygen and nutrients throughout the body, including the skin. That's why light, nature's wind, spices and citrus fruits help us have healthy, glowing skin.

But in your case, your blood vessels are already dilated, and more dilation causes redness on the skin.

But why are your blood vessels dilated?

The skin consists of layers: Epidermis, dermis, and hypodermis. The dermis has blood vessels. Somehow, your epidermis is compromised, and foreign objects are entering your bloodstream.

When a pathogen = a foreign object, enters your body, it is detected by white blood cells in the blood, which triggers an immune response to fight the threat.

Your immune response is the dilation of the blood vessels and inflammation in the area, which is redness, bumps, and broken visible blood vessels.

The body says, "We are in danger."

"Send all your resources with the blood to the skin to defend us because our survival is more important than flawless, good-looking skin."

You can not cure Rocease if you don't help your body repair the damage on the epidermis. You can avoid all the triggers. But the damage is still there. And if avoiding the trigger is not just simply avoiding alcohol but the exotic spicy dish in your favourite place, the trip to a windy mountain, the holiday at a sunny destination or a simple hot tea next to the fire, you are avoiding LIFE.

So, let's help the body repair the epidermis with wound healing, sebum balancing, antibacterial and anti-inflammatory plants.

They will help us.

Wound Healing Plants:
(Calendula, Comfrey, Witch Hazel, Yarrow, Red Clover, Rosehip, Rosemary, Nettle, Rose):

It's not that you have a wound. However, the epidermis is compromised. It needs rebuilding. Wound healing is basically the body cleaning up the debris, damaged cells & bacteria and producing collagen fibres for new tissue growth. And this is what we need to do to rebuild the epidermis.

Antibacterial Plants:

Wound-healing plants are also antibacterial. You have to kill the bad bacteria so that your immune system calms down. Because bad bacteria will keep sending the message that there is danger, the immune response = your redness will not stop. The body is right. There is danger = bad bacteria. The skin is open to anything. Why would I not protect my human?

Sebum Balancing Plants:
(Lavender, Jojoba, Yarrow, Elder flowers, Chamomile):

We need the skin microbiome to be healthy. The skin microbiome is a huge army of good bacteria. They are your soldiers, ready to defend you against any outside danger. They need the sebum to be balanced; consider sebum as their home. If your bed sheets are terrible and rough, can you sleep well? No. You would wake up tired instead of renewed and refreshed. If the skin isn't producing normal levels of sebum, the microbiome is simply unhappy and tired and is not interested in helping you heal the compromised epidermis.

Anti-inflammatory Plants:
(Nettle, Chamomile, Rosemary, marshmallow root, licorice root, Witch hazel leaf):

Inflammation is the cause of redness and swelling. There is danger, says the body, which means "I am expanding the blood vessels and sending every powerful chemical I produce to the area". Anti-inflammatory means blocking the production of chemicals in the body that trigger inflammation, which will reduce redness and swelling.

You can find all of these herbs inside the Face Elixir, Night Balm, Sun Elixir and Winter Solstice. But you must cleanse with our Raw Organic Jojoba, follow it with Rose Water Mist to prepare the skin and then apply the oils and balms.

The Botanical Face Elixir (day and night)

The Botanical Night Balm (only at night if you are also struggling with dryness)

Sun Elixir is on top of the Face Elixir during the day.

Winter Solstice day or night, if your dryness is extreme, it means you have so much irritation, sensitivity and scars. But if your dryness is not extreme, you can apply Winter Solstice as a once or twice-a-week mask.

I am going to say it again: Skincare that is not designed to help your skin actually heal will not work well with ours. So, if you apply the products I mentioned and then add some other moisturizer, toner, serum or mask, it is taking two steps further, 1 step back. So it's very important to not add anything else.

Knowledge is power, and when we understand what is happening in our bodies in as much detail as possible and create solutions that actually heal the skin, the results are empowering. You are not only healing a skin issue, but you are awakening the healing power of your body. Healing a compromised epidermis means you now have a strong shield. Throw anything at it, and it will protect itself.

Which means no more avoiding life. But enjoying every moment.

with all my love,
Ezgi
