"Look up", we are often told - An invitation to pause.
"Look up" to appreciate the wonders of the world. But what if, instead of looking up, we look down?
Don't have time to read?
Stop for a minute and sense the earthly vibrations beneath your feet. That isn't dirt you feel - it's life.
Soil is the living, breathing skin of the earth, and only the tiniest fraction of it is visible to the human eye. Soil hums with microbial activity. Listen. This is how it sounds.... Soil is home to a mind-blowing range of insects and animal life and all life above the ground.
But they won't work for free. They need food. They need love. They need care just like you and me. Living breathing creatures beneath your feet.
They will heal the soil. They will heal you.
An example?
Red Clover.
I included this plant inside the Winter Solstice after reading so much about how it has been used to heal skin cancers. A herbalist from the 1800s used a cooked-down paste of this plant for the external treatment of skin cancers.
This plant smells and tastes so sweet. It soothes dry and irritable skin tissue. They say that when the skin is dry, it needs red clover, and I agree. It does wonders, especially for skin conditions that weep and crack, just like dry winter skin.
Healing.
All these ingredients. They heal the soil. They heal you.
None of them hurts anybody.
Look down.
Stop for a minute and sense the earthly vibrations beneath your feet. That isn't dirt you feel. It's life.
Protect what lies beneath.
